The Oman and Etihad Rail Company, which is operating the railway network connecting Oman and the UAE, has invited specialised contractors to submit prequalification bids for the freight facilities, depots, and stations to interlink the two countries. The railway project aims to facilitate passenger and cargo movement between the two countries, creating more job opportunities and promoting sustainable development. The railway link is also expected to boost bilateral ties and solidify the connection between the two GCC countries through the development of an efficient railway network spanning over 300 kilometres, from Oman’s Sohar Port to the UAE National Rail Network. Bidders must boast a track record of delivering similar projects involving rail freight facilities, rail passenger stations, and rail maintenance depots within a railway environment.
