TII launches new system for cargo, drone-based logistics

Pioneering advancements in autonomous systems for  integrating drones and ground vehicles, Technology Innovation Institute (TII) has come up with a solution for autonomous cargo transportation, safeguarded by robust cybersecurity measures. It is a zero-trust-based autonomous system. This model ensures that no system component is trusted unless verified, protecting against potential threats such as hijacking among others. These drones and vehicles are fitted with hardened communication stacks and shielded networks, making them difficult to breach. “The idea is we need to make sure that you are driving the stuff with fully trusted systems. And the systems can be used for many different things. You can use it for transporting things, say, blood samples between hospitals. They were also ferrying vaccines during the Covid-19 crisis. The system utilises AI-driven communication that allows operators to easily deploy drones for tasks such as cargo delivery. While parts of the platform are being commercialised across the UAE, full implementation is pending further testing and certification,” Dr. Shreekant (Ticky) Thakkar, said.
