Swissport International hiking investments in eGSE

Swissport International is increasing its investments in electric Ground Support Equipment (eGSE) by implementing a newly adopted procurement policy. Starting January 2025, the new ground handling vehicles across various categories must be ordered in electric versions. This initiative includes vehicles for baggage transport, conveyor belts for loading luggage onto aircraft, mobile staircases for passenger boarding, light and medium forklifts, and service vehicles for waste disposal and fresh water supply. The new procurement policy aligns with Swissport’s commitment to achieving 55 per cent eGSE by 2032. “Swissport reaffirms its goal to increase the proportion of electric zero-emission ground support equipment. Over the next 10 years, we will invest over a billion euros into a new electric fleet. Our commitment to sustainability and clean energy also supports airlines’ ESG goals and reduces their supply chain emissions,” Warwick Brady, President & CEO, Swissport International, said.
