How has AI transformed logistics operations in the Middle East?

I have seen a lot of companies integrate the use of AI in their warehouses and it is the way forward. Our business model is designed with agility, capable of scaling with our client’s business and evolving with their customer base. Since we are experts in handling hazardous material (HAZMAT), we transport lithium batteries from mobile phones, adhering to strict protocols laid down by the government.

How is sustainability deployed in your logistics operations?

At Orbit Logistics, we have started to bring in the use of more green material in our packaging, especially for our ocean freight. As far as our daily operations are concerned, we have cut back considerably on usage of paper. We now rely more on digitalisation and limit transactions to email.

As a new organisation, how do you tackle some of the challenges of the logistics industry?

Since air cargo and logistics is a very old industry, it is sometimes hard to change the old ways of thinking and doing things. We have a young team who are committed to getting the work done in a smaller amount of time. We need more communication between cargo agents. Currently, there is a lot of growth in this industry and there is a lot of room if we communicate openly. I am trying to facilitate trade between the UAE and Iraq. For this to happen, we need to communicate more with the agents knowing that their capabilities can help everyone in the industry.

Explain the process of your warehousing operations at your office in Dubai Free Zone?

Our company knows that efficient and effective warehousing frequently plays the significant role for one’s supply chain needs. That is exactly why we have streamlined warehousing facilities, enabling businesses to store their inventory in our cutting-edge logistics facilities. We also offer duty-paid and bonded options in order to help accommodate customer requirements irrespective of the industry. We have integrated futuristic technology that helps ensure one’s inventory requirements and storage needs. We provide real-time visibility of a client’s inventory, offering stock control solutions to maximise their order  cycle time.

How do you see this industry moving forward and what does the future hold for your company?

We offer custom clearance in Iraq and offer door-to-door cargo delivery. Currently, we have been blessed to be in a trajectory where we are facilitating many of our customers, especially in Iraq. We have created a route between the UAE and Iraq where we can do door-to-door clearance for our customers in both countries.  We are trying to expand to Hong Kong and China where we are planning to facilitate a route between China and  Iraq.

We are planning to charter planes and communicate with several customers in Iraq and the UAE and hope that we can create an air route between China and the UAE and China and Iraq. This will provide ease of access between these four countries. Within the next five years, we do want to be in Latin America and the  USA because that is a region, that will offer growth soon.
