
Sharjah International Airport experienced unprecedented growth in cargo handling in 2024, with a 38.6 per cent increase in volumes, reaching 195,909 tonnes compared to 141,358 tonnes in 2023, His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman, Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), said. The airport facilitated 14,035 tonnes through sea-air cargo operations, reinforcing its role as a key logistics hub. “These record-breaking results reflect the airport’s status as a global hub for air transport and logistics,” he added. The airport increased airline partnerships and introduced new air cargo routes with Kenya Cargo from Kenya, Somalia, and Tanzania, United Parcel Service (UPS) weekly routes connecting the Far East, Sharjah, and Europe. Also, QR Cargo initiated routes between Doha and Sharjah.
