Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways agreed on a 5-year partnership that would boost cargo capacity for Australian exporters, Anna Brakey, Commissioner, ACCC, said. Under the plan, 28 new weekly return flights between Doha and Western Australia will begin in mid-2025—with Perth services launching in November. Notably, the new flights will deploy Boeing 777s, which offer more than double the cargo space of the A380s currently used on Qatar’s Perth route.  “The applicants intend to operate B777 aircraft on the additional frequencies, which has more than double the cargo space compared to A380s, which Qatar Airways currently uses on its existing daily Perth service, meaning that the additional Perth frequency will open up more than a doubling of freight capacity for Western Australian exporters,” she said.
