Oman Post, part of Asyad Group, introduced an automatic sorting system for postal parcels. This has contributed to a 43 per cent increase in operational efficiency for postal services and solutions by the end of August 2023, compared to the same period in 2022. The launch of the new system reflects Oman Post’s strategy for employing the latest technological solutions to increase the speed of processing postal materials, and enhance the efficiency of parcel delivery, according to a release. The system utilizes AI techniques and data-based solutions to automate the sorting process. It has a capacity of around 6,000 postal parcels per hour, distributed across 12 paths. It can sort shipments of different weights up to 20 kilograms per shipment. “Oman Post is committed to staying up to date with the latest technological developments by employing digital system solutions to provide high quality services of international standards,” Sheikh Ibrahim bin Sultan Al Hosni, Acting CEO, of Oman Post and Asyad Express said.
