Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics has unveiled a new ‘Digitalisation and Technical Processing Centre’ and a ‘Unified Documents and Records Platform’, marking a milestone in its digital logistics initiatives. Announced by Minister Saleh Al-Jasser, the new platform is to accelerate digitalisation in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) and Vision 2030 goals. The ministry aims to raise the logistics sector’s GDP contribution to 10 per cent by 2030 from 6 per cent in 2021. Key NTLS projects include an 8,080 km railway expansion, the 1,300 km ‘land bridge” project, and enhanced port capacity for over 40 million containers annually. Air freight capabilities are set to grow to 4.5 million tonnes, with international flight destinations expanding to over 250.
