Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, China to set up logistics SEZ

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced plans to collaborate with China to set up a major logistics SEZ poised to transform the Kingdom into a key logistics hub connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe. The announcement was made during the inaugural Global Logistics Forum 2024, hosted by KSA’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services. The KSA-Sino Logistics Special Economic Zone, set to be constructed at Riyadh’s King Salman International Airport, will span four square km and will be developed in four phases over 12 years. The initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, an ambitious plan to diversify its economy away from oil dependence. Construction is scheduled to begin next year.  “The partnership marked a step toward delivering on their vision of establishing the airport as a leading global logistics hub, serving regional and global logistics companies, while supporting KSA’s trade expansion,” Marco Mejia, acting CEO, King Salman International Airport Development Company, said.
