Hapag-Lloyd’s Red Sea Express (TRE) service has launched at Jeddah Islamic Port, supporting Saudi Ports Authority’s (Mawani) strategy to link Saudi ports globally and attract major shipping lines. This initiative aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy’s (NTLS) objective to position the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) as a global logistics hub. The new service addresses the region’s increasing trade demands with regular weekly trips to Istanbul, Izmit, and Aliaga in Turkey and Aqaba in Jordan. The service has a capacity of up to 1,130 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs). “This move reinforces our commitment to enhance KSA’s connectivity and logistics capabilities,” Mawani stated. The introduction of the TRE service underscores Mawani’s efforts to support NTLS, making KSA a central logistics hub. By welcoming the TRE service, Jeddah Islamic Port enhances its role in regional and global trade and meets the demand for efficient shipping solutions.
