The GCC’s transport and logistics sector could reduce carbon footprint by 20 to 40 per cent, according to a research conducted by Strategy& Middle East, Hamza El Mounhi, Principal, Strategy& Middle East, said. Decarbonising logistics, which contributes 25 per cent of global emissions, is pivotal for net-zero goals by 2050. Key measures include green fuels, multimodal systems, and collaboration among governments, businesses, and consumers. For cross-border logistics, emission targets are being set by supranational bodies such as the IMO and IATA.  “For the GCC, composed of fast-growing, dynamic markets, meeting sustainability targets will be more of an uphill battle than in other regions. With the right focus on technology, innovation, and collaboration, the region can set a global standard for decarbonised logistics,” he added.
