Dubai Airports is bolstering its cargo operations at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), as part of its broader growth strategy, Paul Griffiths, CEO, said. DWC now hosts all dedicated freighter aircraft, while Dubai International Airport (DXB) focuses primarily on passenger and belly cargo services. Griffiths said, “The number of diverse operations there (at DWC) is increasing. We have got a large private jet fleet operating out of DWC. The dedicated cargo freighters are based now at DWC, and DXB is exclusively for passenger and belly cargo now.” This expansion aligns with Dubai Airports’ long-term vision to consolidate operations at DWC, requiring an eventual capacity of 150 million passengers to facilitate the shift from DXB. DWC’s network recently added Air France subsidiary Transavia and Germany’s Eurowings, reflecting its rising prominence in both passenger and cargo services.
