IATA recorded double-digit annual growth in total demand, rising by 11.4 per cent as compared to August 2023, with the highest recorded performance not witnessed since 2021. This is the ninth consecutive month of double-digit annual growth with industry-wise capacity reaching an all-time high, increasing by 6.2 per cent compared to last year. “We continue to hear good news in air cargo markets. The sector recorded a second consecutive month of record high demand year-to-date. Even with record levels of capacity, yields are up 11.7 per cent on 2023, and 46 per cent above pre-pandemic levels. This performance is underpinned by slow but steady growth in global trade, booming e-commerce, and continuing capacity constraints on maritime shipping,” Willie Walsh, Director General, IATA, said.
