“Digitalisation has come as a blessing in disguise for the air cargo industry. This has not happened as fast as any of us would have liked,” Brendan Sullivan, Global Head, Cargo, IATA, at the World Cargo Symposium which opened in Hong Kong recently. IATA reviewed progress in digitalisation, safety and sustainability at the symposium.
“Air cargo volumes are now back to pre-pandemic levels. The challenge now is to ensure that cargo growth is efficient and aligned with achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050,” he said. Our call for action is clear:
Governments must consistently implement global standards and supply chain partners must collaborate to overcome shared challenges. The industry on the whole must align to ensure a unified and effective approach to digitalisation,” Sullivan added.
