DB Schenker has introduced a standardised onboard courier (OBC) service for customers needing urgent courier service solutions for small and high-value shipments, Thorsten Meincke, Global Board Member, Air and Ocean Freight, DB Schenker, said. The company has set up an OBC service team that operates from three continents to guarantee 24X7 availability for OBC requests.
The express service express service includes real-time tracking, insurance coverage, and customs clearance if required. “Customers receive a quote within minutes at any time. A courier is dispatched at short notice to personally accompany the cargo item (s) as a passenger on a commercial flight to minimise the risk of loss or damage and ensure the shortest transit time,” DB Schenker explained. The OBC service is available for all types of shipments except dangerous goods. Demand is exceptionally high for automotive, electronics, high-end fashion, and healthcare customers, he said. “Whether urgent automotive parts need to be shipped from Germany to China to prevent a line stoppage or a medical device from Canada is required in a hospital in South Africa, we can be able to take care of any unforeseeable and short-term requirements.
