According to Mwani Qatar, Hamad, Doha and Ruwais ports have recorded 46 per cent growth in container handling in the month of July in comparison to July 2023. The handling of twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) at these ports stood at 146,752. The record jump in container handling is due to a recorded 132 per cent rise in transshipment activities. Mwani Qatar, the gateway to Qatar’s seaports and shipping terminals, stated on social media platform X that the general and bulk cargoes handled via the Hamad, Doha and Ruwais ports combined stood at a mammoth 131,982 tonnes in July 2024. There was a significant growth in handling of livestock, vessels and RORO with an increase of 271 per cent, 4 per cent and 102 per cent, respectively. In addition, the three ports combined handled a total of 706,983 TEUs containers in the first half January to June 2024, which was 12 per cent higher in comparison to the same period in 2023.
