'4% rise in air cargo, global fleet to expand by 2043’

Boeing’s 2024 World Air Cargo Forecast projects long-term growth for air cargo by 4 per cent in 2043. The global air cargo fleet is expected to expand by nearly two-thirds, reaching 3,900 freighters by 2043, up from 2,340 in 2023, Darren Hulst, Vice President, Commercial Marketing, Boeing. The Middle East’s scheduled cargo volumes saw an upward trend from 22,841 million CTKs in 2013 to a peak of 36,084 million CTKs in 2021. Demand, especially from high-growth markets, will drive double the fleet of large widebody freighters. “As the quickest and reliable way to move goods, air cargo’s sustained growth has returned the industry to its long-term trend. There will be many drivers for continued freighter demand over the next 20 years, including expansion of emerging markets and global growth in manufacturing and e-commerce,” Hulst added.
