per the recent data released by IATA, the air cargo demand in cargo tonne-kilometers (CTKs) for the Middle East region rose 14.7 per cent year-on-year. Globally, the total demand for air cargo measured in CTKs surged 13.6 per cent. Middle East is only second to Asia-Pacific region in CTK percentage, which showed a growth of 17.6 per cent YoY. These figures are testament to Middle East’s major contribution to the air cargo sector globally. The available cargo tonne-kilometers (ACTKs) percentage of the Middle East reached 4.4 per cent, and the cargo load factor (CLF) for the region stood at a robust 45.8 per cent. “Air cargo demand hit record highs year-to-date in July with strong growth across all regions. The air cargo business continues to benefit from growth in global trade, booming e-commerce, and capacity constraints on maritime shipping. With the peak season still to come, it is shaping to be a strong year for air cargo. And airlines have proven adept at navigating political and economic uncertainties to flexibly meet emerging demand trends,” Willie Walsh, Director General, IATA, said.
